Join us for lunch next week to benefit breast cancer research. We have donated 10% of lunch sales to The Lady Lions Pink Zone for the months of January and February, and we want to finish strong.

You can also support breast cancer research by cheering on the Lady Lions basketball team in their annual Pink Zone game against Minnesota on Sunday. Last year over $195,000 was donated as a part of the Pink Zone game.

Carnegie Inn & Spa would like to wish the best of luck to everyone participating in Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon this weekend. Known as Thon, this event is the country’s largest student-run philanthropy. Dancers will remain standing without sleep on the floor of the Bryce Jordan Center for 46 hours this weekend in an effort to raise funds to battle pediatric cancer.

Last year, Penn State students raised over $9.5 million for the Four Diamonds Fund. The Four Diamonds Fund assists children and families being treated at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital. Thon started in 1973 with 39 couples and raised $2,000. 700 dancers and over 15,000 student volunteers later, Thon has raised more than $78 million.

Thon dancers are on their feet for 46 hours straight. They need your support. Come to Happy Valley and experience this amazing event for yourself.

Culinary Couple Visits the Carnegie Inn & Spa

The Culinary Couple recently did a great story on the opening of the new Carnegie Inn & Spa. For those of you who have yet to read about their experience at the opening celebrations, here’s some of what they had to say:

We arrived at the Inn, which is tucked neatly into the woods of the Toftrees Golf Resort, last Thursday evening along with dozens of members from the local Chamber of Commerce (where they were meeting for their monthly happy hour). We were greeted by a friendly staff and buffet tables filled with hot and cold appetizers: cured meats and olives, shrimp wrapped around slices of chorizo, melon balls in lime yogurt dipping sauce, mushrooms stuffed with diced pears and Gorgonzola cheese, butternut squash ravioli, summer figs soaked in Grand Marnier, crab cakes topped with cucumber-corn relish, and more. Each small bite was expertly prepared and full of flavor.

And their thoughts on the hotel lodging:

Our room was on the first floor at the end of a dimly lit hallway. And by dimly lit, I mean in a very Victorian and romantic way. Our room was much the same. Ornate wallpaper covered the walls and thick drapes framed our bed. There was a cozy sitting area at one end of the room, and the television was behind closed doors, which made it easy to simply sink into the couch with our magazines — something neither of us had done in weeks. We were both so grateful to spend a quiet night together, out of our house and away from our to-do list.

And of course, their review of our new spa:

Now I have had massages in the past — at the Hershey Spa and in a hut set over the Caribbean— and, of course, I loved them. But I was really looking forward to this one. What 9-month pregnant woman doesn’t want someone to tend to her stiff neck and achy back and sore joints? And, oh, it exceeded my expectations. I did not want to move from that bed after my hour was up. The masseuse informed me, though, that postnatal massages are just as wonderful.

We want to welcome everyone who is in State College for the Ag Progress Days! The Ag Progress Days Show is the largest agricultural exposition in Pennsylvania.

It features the latest technology and research exhibits, educational programs, and guided tours. In its 36th year at this established site, it is one of only three agricultural exhibitions in the country sponsored by a major university. The exhibits showcase the latest in Penn State research, as well as information on best management practices and changing regulations in the agricultural industry.

With over 400 exhibitors from 31 states and 4 provinces of Canada, there is something for everyone. Each year, farming families from across Pennsylvania and surrounding states attend this three-day event.
